Saturday 25 July is the 20th Anniversary of the Cycle of Giving
For 20 years, the Cycle of Giving has brought our community together around one powerful idea: ordinary people can help save lives. What began as a local charity ride has grown into a lasting commitment to lifesaving cardiac and transplant research, supporting the medical breakthroughs that give patients and families hope when they need it most.
Every donation to the Cycle of Giving Research Grant directly supports researchers working to improve heart and transplant outcomes — advancing treatments, refining surgical techniques, and improving long-term quality of life for transplant recipients. These are not abstract outcomes; they are real people, real families, and real second chances made possible through research and generosity.
This 20th-anniversary year is a milestone worth celebrating — and a moment to make an even greater impact. For two decades, the Cycle of Giving has shown what community-driven fundraising can achieve when compassion meets action. Your support helps ensure this vital research continues, year after year, turning generosity into tangible progress.
By donating today, you become part of a story that saves lives. Whether your gift is large or small, it helps fund the research that keeps hearts beating, supports transplant recipients on their journey, and honours the generosity of organ donors.
Thank you for helping give more Australians a second chance at life.
Cycle of Giving History
Mary Long and her husband Mal started the Cycle of Giving charity ride in 2006 to show their gratitude to Mal's donor family and the medical team that performed the lifesaving surgery, and to raise awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation. Read more.
