FAQs

1. Is this a racing club or a social club?

We are a social non-competitive club. Our rides are supported by a ride leader.
Group rides have a tail end Charlie or sweep with regular stops. We enjoy coffee stops and after ride social activities. There are regular rides with varying distances and average speeds to suit everyone.

2. Are non-members allowed to join rides?

We welcome non-members and suggest you enjoy a few rides with our club before joining. See calendar for your next ride.

3. Are rides covered by insurance?

The Club has Public Liability Insurance that covers members on Club rides. Members are encouraged to obtain their own personal and bike insurance through Bicycle Queensland or a similar organisation.

4. Is there a club jersey?

Our new club kit will be available around Christmas 2025. The first order will be subsidized by the Club.

5. Is there a bigger view of the calendar?

You can see a full screen view here: https://calendar.online/rider
You can also download the Calendar.Online App from the Apple Store or Google Play. Once downloaded, select 'Add a new access link by entering the address manually' and add the word rider in the blank access bar.

6. How do you know who is riding especially on Saturdays?

Each Saturday, Sunday and Golden Beach group uses WhatsApp. So before the ride, send a quick text message in WhatsApp to your riding group. It's also good when it's raining so you can quickly check to see who is still coming. It's not for social chat. Just about the ride. WhatsApp can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play.

And if you don't use WhatsApp, simply turn up for the ride at least 10 minutes before it starts and join in with the group. Members and new riders are welcome to join any ride posted on the calendar.

Ride groups also have a Ride Coordinator. If you are unsure about a ride please contact the appropriate ride coordinator.

7. How can we access a rider's emergency contacts?

Your mobile phone can hold your health and emergency contact information. It would be quicker, more up to date and easier than going to a website and logging in, only to find that person hasn't updated their emergency contact details. Please add your emergency contacts to your mobile phone.

8. How do I let anyone know I will be the ride leader on a particular ride?

Just let your Ride Coordinator know and either complete the ride leader form or let one of our calendar editors you would like to lead a ride. They will add your name to that ride on the calendar. It's also a good idea to tell your group on their WhatsApp.
