Jo and Glenn have both ridden for years and have joined the Club to renew their passion for riding and fitness. Thanks for helping with our January Spotlight!

Jo Majewski

How long have you been riding?

I've always had a bike and ridden to school and Uni, then in 1999 I rode competitively with the Logan and Uni of Qld cycling clubs with a final comp. in the TREK series in 2002.

My blue Hilbrick was amazing to ride.

I travelled to NZ with my bike and rode races there and did a trip up Mt. Hutt.

When did you join the Sunshine Coast Bicycle Club and why?

With family life I stopped cycling and moved to acreage and took up horse riding instead. In 2023 I decided to revisit my old passion and found a great used Cannondale online and joined the Sunshine Coast Bicycle Club.

I looked at all the cycling clubs on the coast and wanted to ride with a group that was safe and non-racing. My first ride was with the 30km group which was hard enough at the time, but it felt good to get out on the bike again. Over the years with the club, I have been nicely challenged and regained my fitness.

What was your first Club ride like and what have you enjoyed?

All the SCBC riders have been welcoming and fun, and helpful. I have especially enjoyed the ladies rides mid-week last year which is where I was most challenged. I am also inspired at each ride watching the more mature riders whizz pass me!

What would you say to someone thinking about joining the Club?

I would recommend others to join the club to enjoy the many different levels, ages and abilities that make up the riders. There are groups for everyone now with competitive rides for the those who want the extra challenge. I plan to join these groups one day!

How long have you been riding?

I have been riding for around 10 years, not counting my riding as a child.

When did you join the Sunshine Coast Bicycle Club and why?
I first joined about 8 years ago then cancelled after a major bike crash 3 years ago.

I rejoined a couple of weeks ago. My wife finally agreed to let me ride with a cycling group again.

What was your first Club ride like and what have you enjoyed?

My first ride after rejoining was excellent. I like the social side of the club.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining the Club?
Definitely go ahead and join.
